The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

⭐️⭐️ NO SPOILERS ⭐️⭐️ I binge-watched series one is The Handmaid’s Tale along with everyone else back in 2017. When series 2 came out I didn't, I wanted to stay true to the book. When The Testaments announcement came, I started to yell “don’t tell me” whenever the TV series was mentioned, as I was terrified somebody would spoil it for me. Which is why when I finally got my hands on it last week I said I would be really careful not to ruin it for anyone else. So this is what you’ll get from me, a bit of the blurb from the book and whether it was worth the wait. I have written a longer review, still with no spoilers, but I’m not going to post it just yet. From the book; You hold in your hands a dangerous weapon loaded with the secrets of three women from Gilead. They are risking their lives for you. For all of us. Before you enter their world, you might want to arm yourself with these thoughts: Knowledge is power and History does not repeat itself, but it rhymes. Verdict: The ending of The Handmaid’s Tale has haunted me for twenty years, Offred frequently pops into my mind and I’ve often found myself wondering what happened. I was worried that once I read The Testaments it would ruin that amazing cliff hanger for me and I wouldn’t be able to unsee what I’d read. The Handmaid’s Tale was dark, unsettling and disturbing, The Testaments feels like a completely different book. In places it is as dark as you would expect, but I found it to be quite an emotional read. All I will say is that it is equally as brilliant, was certainly worth the wait and it’s one I would highly recommend. I hope you don’t mind that I’ve kept my thoughts so brief. Believe me I could talk about this book for hours but I don’t want to spoil it for you. Over the weekend, I was reading the lengths the publishing team had to go to in order to keep the secrets of The Testaments safe and I want to protect them for you too. If you’ve read The Testaments, I’d love to hear your thoughts, please be careful not to include any spoilers in the comments though. Finally, after all the excitement and anticipation, how will I cope with #lifeafterthetestaments
