The Silent Treatment by Abbie Greaves

Time to catch up on some reviews and I’m starting with The Silent Treatment by @abbiegreavesauthor. See picture 2 for synopsis.
📖
When I finished the first chapter I thought well that’s me totally hooked, in just a few short pages I knew enough to know I liked the characters and I really wanted to find out what had happened to make Frank stop talking.
📖
The story is told from two parts, I’m not going to tell you too much to keep this spoiler free. The first part is Frank breaking his silence and looking back at his marriage with Maggie while he tries to find a way to tell her what happened that made him stop speaking to her. The second half is Maggie’s story and it is told through a series of letters to Frank.
📖
I loved the way Abbie changed my perceptions as the story started to unfold. Ideas I’d had about the characters changed as I learnt what had happened to them both and I felt so much affection for them both.
📖
The Silent Treatment is a beautiful read but goodness me it is very sad. Frank and Maggie are such wonderful characters, there are some very big issues dealt with and I will put a couple of CWs in the comments. There were many times where I put the book down and just sat and wondered how I would act in their situation. I also loved the ending, I had tears streaming down my face and just felt so emotional.
📖
The Silent Treatment is out now in paperback and I would definitely recommend it for when you’re in the right place for a really beautiful and emotional review.
📖
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one, have you read it and what did you think?
