The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid is the type of book that reminds me why I love reading so much and makes me sad for those who don’t read.
Let’s get the shallow part out of the way. The cover is perfection - striking and glamorous, how could you not want to read it?
Evelyn Hugo; Hollywood icon, mother, friend and keeper of secrets. Now an old lady she chooses an unknown magazine reporter to write her story. Her story is captivating and so realistic, I found myself totally immersed and unable to put it down. The characters are complex and came totally to life. From her seven husbands, for me, Harry is the leader of the pack.
This is the first book of Taylor Jenkins Reid that I have read and I have to say she is a master story-teller. She transported me to 1950’s Hollywood, I could imagine every Oscar ball gown she describes. The best thing about this book is how she feeds you little bits of information to keep you guessing. I had no idea what secret Evelyn was hiding but I found myself shocked when she finally makes the reveal.
At times heartbreaking, I did shed quite a few tears during his book. Evelyn and Monique’s story is one I will remember and I will most certainly want to read more of her work.
Since finishing the book I’m struggling to work out whether I actually like Evelyn? It’s a question I’ll be asking myself this question for a long time to come.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, have you read this one or could you recommend any of her other books?
