The Long, Long Afternoon by Inga Vesper

It’s so lovely waking up this morning and not having to homeschool!!! I asked the children what they’d like to do and they’ve asked if they can play Lego all day which sounds perfect to me!
📖
Right review time today I’m sharing my thoughts on The Long, Long Afternoon by Inga Vesper. See picture 2 for synopsis.
📖
I loved being transported back to the 1950s for this one, I did find the exploration of sexism and racism of that time made me quite angry in places. I know it’s a probably an accurate portrayal of attitudes at that time but there were several times I wanted to shout at the characters for the things they said.
📖
Ruby is the star of this book for me, she’s a great character and I really admired her determination but I also felt so sad at the way she is treated.
📖
As for the mystery, I was totally hooked. I loved the way it all started to unfold and I thought the plot was really good. I did actually manage to suss this one out which is very rare for me. If I were to be really picky, I’d say I didn’t love the ending, it wasn’t terrible, but it was just a bit over the top for me.
📖
Still one I’d recommend, I really enjoyed the story and the writing and it definitely kept my interest.
📖
The Long, Long Afternoon was the book I selected for my gift subscription to @lovemyread . They had some really great choices this month and I’m so excited for my March box as well. Thank you so much to @lovemyread for your very generous gift.
