The Ends of the Earth by Abbie Greaves

When I received a proof for The Ends of the Earth by @abbiegreavesauthor I told myself I would definitely read The Silent Treatment before I picked this one up. Unfortunately once I read the synopsis (see picture 2) it got into my head and my curiosity got the better of me. I had to find out who Jim is, where he’d got to and whether Mary was going to be ok.
📖
I’m so glad I picked this one straight up because it is a really lovely read. It has a slightly slower pace which I really enjoyed and it felt right. As we were getting to know Mary, both in the present day and looking back at her relationship with Jim, and we start to learn what had happened the flow felt very sympathetic. The story of Mary and Jim’s relationship is told with so much compassion it felt like peeling back the layers of hurt and grief.
📖
The story looks at themes of male mental health, grief, love, loss, the importance of friendship and hope and it is so beautifully handled. I loved Mary, her story was just heartbreaking. As for Jim, I won’t give any spoilers but I found his story just as moving.
📖
The Ends of the Earth is out on 29 April and it is a great read, it really pulled at my heartstrings. I loved Abbie’s writing and storytelling and I can’t wait to read The Silent Treatment now. Thank you so much @penguinukbooks for sending this one to me, I really enjoyed it.
📖
I’d love to hear your thoughts, have you read The Silent Treatment yet and does this sound like one you’ll be adding to your TBR.
📖
Have a great day 💕
