The End We Start From
Today I have been held captive by The End We Start From by Megan Hunter, I haven’t been able to put it down.
Most probably I picked this book up because I really liked the cover. I loved the writing style, the paragraphs are short and almost poetic. It flows so beautifully I just didn’t want to stop.
It is such an unusual book, we learn so little about the characters, just the initials of their names and yet I felt totally connected.
The book starts with a mother about to give birth as London is flooded. The thing that is so engaging about this book is that it feels so real. I felt anxious, I could almost believe this is how it would be if it were to happen.
If you liked Station Eleven or The Handmaid’s Tale then you’d probably really enjoy this one. I would recommend that you start reading it on a day you have little planned as you might not be able to put it down either.
