Shiver by Ali Reynolds

I think I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I love the Book Hunt Series that @bookbeforeuleap does on Wednesday nights. Well last week I was given another reason to love it a bit more because I won a prize! Shiver by @authorallier has been on my radar for a while so I was absolutely delighted to win a copy. (See picture 2 for synopsis).
I’ve never been skiing or snowboarding (I don’t like being cold, I’m terrified of heights and I’m ridiculously clumsy so I’m not sure it would go well for me), so when I picked up this book I did wonder if it would be one that I’d get. While I have to say I still have no idea what half the tricks are, they all sounded incredibly dangerous to me, I did find that I was fully absorbed in this world.
Shiver is one of those brilliant thrillers where you just don’t know who to trust, everybody was suspicious to me and I wouldn’t want to be stranded up a mountain with any of them. The group of friends are all professional athletes who all want to win, but how far are they willing to go to do so! Told from alternating timelines each chapter ends on a mini cliffhanger which makes for a very compelling read.
Packed with secrets and with plenty of twists to keep me guessing right to the end, I really enjoyed this one. It is a very gripping and original thriller and a brilliant debut. I can’t wait to see what @authorallier will write next.
Shiver is published on 21st January by @headlinebooks and it’s definitely one of recommend. Thank you so much to @bookbeforeuleap for my #bookhuntprize, I really enjoyed it.
