Another Life by Jodie Champman

There have been some fabulous debut novels recently, I’ve been making little notes of authors I want to read more from and I’m now adding @jodiechapman to the top of this list. I finished reading Another Life and I thought it was brilliant. See picture 2 for synopsis.
📖
Another Life is an incredibly powerful and emotional read, within a few pages I knew that this wasn’t going to be your average love story.
📖
The story is about Anna and Nick and it is beautiful and devastating. Their story spans several decades and goes back and forwards in time and it had me gripped throughout. The storytelling is just beautiful, I loved that it is told from Nick’s perspective but oh my goodness there is such a lot of grief, pain and heartbreak here. There are some really big subjects tackled in this one and I’m going to be putting some CW’s in the comments of this post.
📖
One of the things that really struck me with this one is how I connected with the characters. While the story is predominantly about Nick and Anna there were other characters who really got to me like Nick’s brother Sal. I wanted to reach inside the pages and give them all a hug.
📖
I’ve seen Another Life described as “Romeo and Juliet of our generation” and “a modern day Atonement meets David Nicholls” and “like if One Day had been written by Sally Rooney”. All brilliant comparisons, it is an incredible debut, it is totally unique and utterly brilliant. It did break my heart quite a few times but I loved it.
📖
Another Life by Jodie Chapman is out now and it is one I highly recommend. Thank you so much michael for sending it to me I loved it.
